The peculiar relationship that slavery and race had was that they both were connected with african american. When slavery started in Europe, Africans were used the most. The term 'race' was used to describe people of different skin color, religion, and culture.

Slavery was and still is connnected to the african people. Stereotypes created problems for people who were from a different race. Eurpeans used slaves they found from Africa and the Caribbean to work in mine and on plantations. Howard Zinns explains that the treatment of thses slaves.

Ibn Batutti, explorer was quick to make his decisions that the African people were 'uncivilized'. The African people he meet on his voyage refused to do anything for them. Because of their nakedness na dhow they eat were uncivilized to them. The only thing he was impressed about was how the praised their gods and how their controlled their community.

When the slaves were brought to Europe, the stereotypes was theri to meet them. These stereoptypes, like the slaves were uncivivlized, alreasdy causing problems. They were trated as prisoners than human beings. They were eorked to the boned and were not given a second thought. To them they were slaves and nothing more.

In the book 1984, The Party was the goernment. They wanted to create the perfect Utopia, they wanted to control what hte people did. They used information on the different types of people, to keep them apart.

The party wanted nobody to do wrong, everything they did they was right. In the book the party enemy was a man name Goldtein, theParty used lies to make the people hate them. They told lies that he was a tratiors and a murder. When the people heard only one side of the story they could only believe what they heard. Sma e thing the slaces they heard that htey were uncivilized so they treated them as prisoners.

The peculiar relationship slavery and race had in early America were explaind as hard times for the African. They were treated badly and withouth an consideration. Race and stereotypes created a bridge that even now, not all are wiling to forget. Will stereotypes ever end? No they will not, not everyone going to be open minded about a different race or culture.

Race had a lot to do with slavery. Many people say that racism had a lot to do with slavery. But according to Howard Zinn, “Racism was the outcome of slavery.” That it’s true because there were different races in slavery. So the peculiar relationships slavery had in early America and slavery and race in Africa, Europe and Arabia.

Slavery and race in early America were made up of mostly Native Americans and Africans. The first major race in slavery in early America was Native Americans. They were there before the Europeans so it was their land. Then the Europeans tricked them and took over their land. So they used the Native Americans as slaves.

Then the shipping of African slaves came. The African slaves became another major race in early America because the Native Americans started to die off. They either died from disease or labor. But the African slaves were used to more diseases and the labor. So they were used more than the Native Americans.

Then slavery and race in Africa, Europe and Arabia. There slave race varied from European whites, Native Americans and Africans. The European white slaves were Christians so the Europeans could not treat them as bad. They could not treat them bad because it would be against there religion. They can only do that to people who do not accept their religion.

So they were much more expensive than the other slavery races. Then the use of Native Americans started to decrease. It started to decrease because they started to die off. The Native Americans immune system was not used to the diseases Europe had. But also the labor was too much for them.

So they started to die off for that. Then since the black African slaves were used to the labor and had stronger immune systems they became one the most used races in slavery. They were used in African by their own race, in Arabia and in Europe. But not only that, black Africans were the cheapest slaves. So that is slavery and race in Europe, Africa and Arabia.

In conclusion the peculiar relationship between early America and Africa, Europe and Arabia had some similarities and some differences. They all had blacks at one point the major race in slavery. But early America did not have Europeans as slaves. But also in early American the Slaves were treated much worse. That is the peculiar relation ship.

Peculiar is unusual, strange, or unconventional. Relationship is the significant connection between two or more things. Slavery is the practice of, or a system based on, using the enforced labor on other people. The word slavery is not just used to describe blacks it is used for all sorts of races. Should slavery as a black person be looked at in another perspective?

In early America Howard Zinn explained it. If they didn’t listen as slaves the Arawaks had to face Spaniards and they had arm, muskets, swords, and horse. The Indians were taken on huge estates. They were worked at ferocious pace. So by some of them working hard and fast they died by thousands and that’s not good sometimes for the seller I think.

To consider imported blacks as slaves it took time because the institution of slavery would not be regularized and legalized. African slavery lacked two elements that made American slavery the cruelest form of slavery in history. The plantation slavery is easily traceable to something other than natural racial repugnance. They did so many things to slavery toward the blacks that they probably didn’t do to the other slaves. But it was so many nations that were in the slave trade.

First the Dutch, then the English, dominated the slave trade. The way they did this is with all the ships that they had. Liverpool had more than a hundred ships carrying slaves and that accounted for half of the slave trade. The way that there ships were really small. Its holds were partitioned into racks, two feet by six, with leg irons and bars.

Millions of blacks were transported as slaves to the Americas. From the beginning, the imported black men and women resisted their enslavement. From their enslavement under the most difficult conditions, under pain of mutilation and death. More often they showed their refusal to submit by running away. They even engaged sabotage, slowdowns, and subtle forms of resistance.

The slavery in slavery and race in Africa, Europe and Arabia as explained by James Sweet was a little different. The dialectic between culture and phenotype operated in such a way that sub-Saharan Africans were unable to escape their inferior status. Skin color, as insignia race, reminded indelible marker of cultural, and thus racial, inferiority. As documents relating to the sales of slaves show Christians differentiating white from black Moors. Slavery and the perceptions of back Africans in Muslim Spain and Christian’s Spain were great indeed.

So the slavery and race had in early America it was hard for them. One because they were slaves, two they had to work for people, and three they were not treated rite. They also died because of the labor that they were put threw. In James time I was mainly b color of skin. That is how it is a little bit today al in the skin color.

The peculiar relationship between slavery and race, are the same because race in many ways had something to do with slavery.by Howard Zinn Racism had a lot to do with slavery because most slaves were black and the people who kept them as slaves were mostly white.

slavery was made up by the Native Americans and African so was race in the early america. up still today slavery and race still exist but mostly with the African people.the Europeans took some of the slave they found in Africa and put them to work.

slavery developed so quickly in a regular institution, and into the normal labor relation of the blacks and the whites. The plantation slavery in the easier traceable to something other than the natural races.

The conditions of the capture and sale were crushing affirmation to the black Africans with the special racial feeling which was hatred , contempt, pity, patronization, which was all conceded the inferior position of the blacks in america.

Most of the slaves died from either a disease or labor. The Africa slaves were used and they worked even harder than the native american because they got more disease and the other died in labor.

The history of slavery and race in Africa, Europe and Arabia as explained by James Sweet was different because the black Africans had stronger immune systems, which made them one of the most used races in slavery.

In conclusion the peculiar relationship between slavery and race and the history of slavery and race in Africa, Europe and Arabia as explained by James Sweet are different because well they both had slavery and race but the early american didn't have Europeans salves but the native american did.

Peculiar means something strange. The keeping of slaves as a practice or institution. Relationship is a connection, association, or involvement. What were the difference relationship of slavery in "1984" and slavery in Zinn Howard ? There is many things that were different.

Race took a big part of history. Whites didnt like Blacks. Whites were really racial with blacks. They try to take over them for a pretty long time.

Slavery whad to do with Race. Since people was racial , Whites took over Blacks. Blacks used to be owned by Whites or whomever. They well sell them and buy other. (Depending on how helpleness they were.)

Do you think slavery and racism still exist ? Yes they do. People in today's world , still get treated differently. Whites, Hispanis, and Blacks talk about one another. I think everybody has there own racial momments. Because if you think about it they all talk about each other. And the way slavery is still in our generation , is because people have to work for others to get something out of it , but they still get treated like crap. THEY GET BOSSED AROUND !

In the book "1984" Winston was part of the Party. They were supervised by telescreens. They had to do everything they were told or else they get killed or get there hands cut off and bleed to death. He was treated as a slave . Until he escape with Julia to join the Brother's.

Native American's were dieing so Africans were coming. Native Americans created this "slavery thing". Since they were dieing becaouse of diesease, hunger, and labor, Africans were bought to work. In fact THey started sending some to the Europeans and then to Portugese. They were send to other places so they could work harder over there. They were bought by others. So Native Americans and Africans , eithere way had to work hard at some type of point.

In conclusion, slavery and racism was something big that happen in the America's. Everything had there differences and similarities. At some type of point someone had a slave working hard. Slaves were striving towards the labor, freedom. And yet there is still racisim going on now in the United States.

Peculiar means strange, odd, uncommon, and unusual. Slavery is the keeping of slaves as a practice or institution. Relationship is a connection, association or involvement between persons. Race kept a lot of things segregated between the different things people did just for fun. Race made peculiar relationships between blacks, whites and Indians during the enslavement time.

In “The Iberian Roots of American Racist Thought” by James Sweet, he clearly states that race have everything to do with slavery along with the ability to complete a given task. Slavery started during the fifteenth century, when racism characterized slavery. The stereotypes made about blacks were not all true but since some of them were the Europeans took that as an advantage to enslave them because they were not worth anything but useless work.

In the Pseudoscientific classification of persons based on race in the eighteenth and nineteenth century’s race and culture cannot be easily separated. Blacks were forced into slavery because they were unable to escape it. As said by James Sweet “blacks where suited to slavery because of their animal-like characteristics.” Muslims expected blacks to be slaves because of their dark skin color and fitted stereotypes. Negative stereotypes caused problems, random slaughter and anger slaves.

The difference between James Sweet and Howard Zinn is that one was just based on race while the other was based on your social status and race. In “Drawing the Color Line” slavery was a complex thing to be a part of. African slavery lacked two elements that made American slavery the cruelest form of slavery in history. The reduction of the slave to less than human status by the use of racial hatred, with that relentless clarity based on color, where white was masters, some whites were servants and blacks were slaves. But blacks and whites were not considered to both be called slaves. Therefore, some slaves were trade throughout Europe to Asia and many other places for the practice of slave trade.

The white servants and black slave had different consequences, if ever disobeyed directions and privileges. For example, if a white servant disobeyed a master the servant would only be whipped. But, if the black slave did the same exact thing the consequences are crueler. They would be burned with the letter R on their cheek, would receive thirty strips and would also have to work in shackles until the master felt it was okay to remove them. Although these people were two totally different races they were going through the same thing. They shared the same problem, had common work and a common enemy with their masters.

The peculiar relationship slavery and race had in early America was that they basically associated slavery with the color of your skin and how low you were in the social class. They had no consideration or compassion for you or how you felt. Slavery led to many horrible things like pain of mutilation and death and human exploitation. Slavery was the reaction to racism and racism caused many problems in life throughout Europe, Africa, and Arabia. Slavery also developed a famous trade known as slave trade which was very common back then.

In conclusion, there were many reasons why slavery started but no one will never fully understand those reasons given. There are many similar reasons why slavery and race have a relationship but difference also separates them. Slavery contains many elements but the color of your skin was the most important. If you were darker than your master then you were considered a black slave and a worthless human. Slavery and race where used to a different extent in certain areas such as Asia, Africa, and Arabia.

Peculiar means uncommon; unusual. Howard Zinn is an American writer, historian and political scientist, and professor emeritus in the Political Science Department at Boston University. He is the author of around 20 books, including A People's History of the United States (1980). Slavery is the condition of a slave; bondage. The term 'race' was used to describe people of different skin color, religion, and culture.

    Howard Zinn staarts off:

If history can help answer question, then beginnings of slavery in North America-- a continent where we can trace the coming of the first whites and the first blacks-- might supply at least a few clues. In the English colonies, slavery developed quickly into a regular institution, into the normal labor relation of blacks to whites. With it developed patronization--that accomplished the inferior postion of blacks in America for the next 350 years: that combination of inferior status and derogatory thought well call racism.

I believe that Zinn was trying to stress the fact that blacks were at the bottom of the race chart. They would be used as slaves because they standards were so low if compared to Eurpeans. He aslo pointed out that blacks black would be the "inferior" race for the 350 years. Thus creating racism. Racism is thea belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

Then Sweet continues on to say:

The question why African slavery emerged as the primary from of explotied labor in the Americas during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries has engaged the attention of scholors for years. Although a consensus seems to have emerged that the growth of capitalism played a major role in the establishment and survival of African slavery in the Americas, heated debate continues over the extent to which racism played a part in this development. The issue of which came first, racism or slavery, is central to this debate: some historians accept Eric Williams's assertion that "slavery was not born of racism: rather, racism was the consequence of slavery."

Though the origins debate may at first glance seem artificial of analytically unimportant, it can reveal fundemental truths about thr trajectory of racist ideology in Western Culture. Locating the crystallization of racist ideology in Europe before 1492 shifts the focus of the origins debate from American economic explanations to European cultural ones. The search for the roots of a racial ideology might begin in ancient times. Many Historians of colonial Latin America insist that racism was not present in Iberia before 1492. They argue instead that racil stratification was a product of American economic conditions.

I believe that Sweet was trying to point out that slavery infact did start with blacks. Which created racism. He also said that slavery has been around for a very long time. Just as Zinn said in his passage. Sweet also indicated that blacks were also at a low standard with the higher rankings. Just as Zinn said in his passage as well.

In conclusion, Zinn and Sweet have very simliar thoughts on how slavery began. They both agree it started with blacks. They also both agreed that it will last for a long time and that it still proceed to this day. They are to great mind that think alike.

    Essay Question:

War- is when soilders fight for something. Control- is when you are the leader of something and people have to do what you say like you have some type of power. Violence - is the expression of physical or verbal force against self or others. Millions of people was conrolled by the brotherhood. Race and slavery is similar in many ways.

Race and slavery has alot to do with each other. Race is basicly like what your nationality is for example African Americans. Slavery is when you are put to work under your will. If you are a certain race like African American you are put to work. All slaves were blacks or Africans there was really no other race working.

Africa had all blacks and Africans. Europe barely had any blacks in it. They had different races there. The people in Europe was treated way different then the people in Africa was treated. That's how they are different in ways.

There was one religion in Arabia. That religion was Islam. There is nothing but muslims there. If you were black with no religion more than likely you was a slave. The blacks were cheaper to have and there skin color made slavemasters want them even more.
