The Department of ministry truth is where Winston works. To me what I think about the meaning of their Department is that it really shouldn’t be called ministry truth. I think that because what Winston job is to do is to revise data so that the world wouldn’t think that Big Brother is in the wrong. So truth really should not be the name because they are revising the truth.

Winston worked for the record department where he worked diligently. But one thing that his place of work does not do that places of work do to day is talk about there jobs. I know when I worked I communicated with my workers about the things that they had me doing. So to me I think that was kind of crazy because they talked about everything else except work. Now if a new worker came and they started to talk about their jobs I think that they would probably walk away from them.

Winston had a friend but according to the book they were called comrades. Syme was smaller than Winston with dark hair and large, protuberant eyes. Winston was having lunch with a man name Syme. This man was intelligent from what I read I believe that the intelligent people work in the Research Department Newspeak which revised the dictionary. One thing that Winston thinks about Syme is that his intelligence will get him vaporized one day.

Winston works at the Department of Truth. In the department of truth Winston changes history to make it better for big brother, who is the government. The government tells you what to do and how to do it. Whenever you are out of order or even think of doing something that is out of order they will kill you because their spies will be there to see you. Winston also has a perception of his position in the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth.
Winston knows that this is wrong to do what he is doing. Big Brother wants to make an image of the world of being perfect, a utopia, but in reality it is the exact opposite, a dystopia. If someone were to die or to lose a war, Big Brother would make it seem as though they still won the war or died a hero. They are living in a society of lies, and they know it. But Big Brother has made it so that they do not stand a chance at making a change for the better. Also the party gets rids the language of synonyms and antonyms.
Synonyms are words having the same or nearly the same meaning as another in the
language, and antonyms are words opposite in meaning to another. In this book it was essential to get rid of the two because it was to reduce answers to a single word that was a "yes", and they wanted everyone to be obedient and affirmative. In my reasoning they probably wanted the readers to think that everything was a utopia, but it really was a dystopia. So you could relate utopia to a dystopia or a synonym because a utopia is really a dystopia because of the restrictions and the force used to be utopia. Also a utopia is supposed to be an antonym of dystopia but they go hand and hand, so maybe the author wanted us and the people in the story to understand that things link together even if they are exact opposites, antonyms, or the same things, Synonyms.

Winston works at the record departed in the Ministry of Truth. What Winston does is he changes facts around in old newspapers. This makes Big Brother seem good, like heroes. In Winston job he has to do it the way they want it. If he doesn’t do it that way they will kill him.

So basically he is correcting the truth into lies. Big Brother thinks that if they look like heroes that will make them more perfect and people would follow them. This will lead into a utopian city. So the history of Big Brother that everyone knows is a lie. So really the Ministry of Truth is suppose to be called the Ministry of lies and that is an antonym.

In Winston’s job he has to get rid of synonym and antonyms. This made the readers think that were they lived at was utopia. He has to do that so it can lead everyone to a single answer which in the book it referred to it as yes. This will make the people follow them and do what they say. So Winston corrected this to make the people believe Big Brother was a hero and that they lived in a utopian city and according to the information to follow Big Brother.

Winston Smith is a member and worker of the Ministry of Truth. The truth is that the ministry lies and covers stories up. Winston was a writer for them and his job was to "revise" the story which also meant to lie. Smith may have disliked his job but so far into the book he has done it. Meaning Smith may just have no choice but to do his job.

According to the text Winston did not like his job. He lied for a man who watched and monitered his everyday life. From time to time Smith got extremely upset and with his thoughts and writing cursed big brother. Saying things like "DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER." Things like that clearly stated how Smith disliked his job.

The purpose of the Ministry of Truth was to twist the truth and make Big Brother look good. Synonyms and antonyms are just tools that would not support big brother or the Ministry. So synonyms and antonyms are rid for protection. Without them the stories look very good and clear. In conclusion the Ministry of Truth is the opposite of what it sounds and looks to be.

    Open Ended Question:

The Records Department place called Ministry of Truth is where Winston worked. The name is the complete opposite of what it really is. This job keeps everyone thinking that Big Brother is good. The truth is Big Brother is not really the person everyone think he is he's really bad. Big Brother fools everyone and he have people help do that.

Big Brother brainwashed everyone and Winston helped him. Winston job was to basically rewrite everything that was written about Big Brother from bad things to good things. Winston was the biggest part of the brainwash. Winston had also invented a person named Comrade Ogilvy and substitutes him for Comrade Withers in the records. Winston didnt like doing what he did but he had to do what he was told. Everyone had to do what they were told which is why things were so messed up.

In Winston job he had to take out all the Synonyms also antonyms. Winston did this to brainwash the people into thinking they were in Utopia. That was the reason why everyone did as they were told. Big Brother was very smart thats why he always succeeded in what he did, everything so far in the novel is going as planned. I believe Big Brother is going to have a rude awakening by the end of the novel.

Winston works in the Ministry of Truth. I don’t believe he really likes his job. He feels like his job is like a big lie. His job entails him to rewrite the history he knows and turn it into lies. Big Brother makes the workers for the Ministry of Truth Rewrite any part of history or documents that goes against what he says. For example if someone who Big Brother felt was an asset to his ruling died in the documents, it would be rewritten to make this person look like a hero.

It’s important for the party to rid the language of synonyms because if they use big words people won’t challenge them. People won’t challenge anything they don’t understand. The synonyms to big vocabulary words are easier to understand. So lets say that Big Brother says someone is stolid. This would be the same as saying the person was stupid it’s just a different form of the word.

The need to get rid of antonyms is similar. Antonyms are words that mean the opposite of something. If you have antonyms people can always find a word that means something different than what your saying. If people can find a word with a different meaning than they can rebel. If you can’t find anything that is different or goes against something you fell is wrong than you have no way to challenge it or do anything about it.

    Period 9

After diligent research, Winston Smith is a bureaucrat in the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth, revising historical records to match The Party's contemporary, official version of the past. What this means is that he basically rewrites or changes things that happen in the past to fit "Big Brothers" standards. This helps "Big Brothers" authority ranking. This makes it seem as if "Big Brother" is some historical and powerful figure. I believe Winston enjoys his work, especially the revising of a complete historical record.
Why is it essential to the party to rid language of synonyms and antonyms? Newspeak was the official language of Oceania. In the year 1984 there wass not as yet anyone who used Newspeak as a sole means of communication, either in speech or writing. By taking synonynms and antonyms away it limited ones way of expressing ones self. This made it hard for rebelion to arise.

The Purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees if Ingsoc, but make all other modes of thought impossible. It was intended that when Newspeak had been adopted once and for all and Oldspeak forgotten, a heretical thought-- that is, a thought diverging from the principles of Ingsoc-- should be literally unthinkable, at least so far as thought is dependant on words. It is very subtle expression to every meaning that a Party membercould properly wish to express, while excluding all other meanings and also the possibility of arriving at them by indirect methods. This was dine partly by the invention of new words, but cheifly by eliminating undesirable words.

  9. Winston was wokring in the department of ministry of Truth. Winston job was to lie. He was spoused to make Big Brother look good infront of everyone. People actually believed Big Brother because all the written was twisted around. Nothing was spoken as the truth.

Winston job was to turn the history around to a lie. For example: If in the history there were parts that were bad of Big Brother then Winston would have to change it to true. Winston would use synonynms and antonyms to make the Big Brother past look good.

Winston still let that pass. I dont know how he took so much of Big Brother. He was controlling his life and ontop of that he was being force to lie and make Big Brother look good. Big Brother just wanted to make his life even worst than what it was. He was just unfair.

Winston was working in the department of Ministry of Truth. His perception of the record department he is working in is hatred. He hates working in the record department, rewriting stories and events. But being that he is under Big Brother, thats what he have to do.

In Winston job, communicating wasnt tolerated. That was one of Big Brother rules. That was not normal. I believe everyone at work communicated with someone. All Winston and his co-workers could do was write and complete there jobs.

Synonyms were used in this text to show how they really talked back in the day. As the instruction first states, synonyms are words having the same meaning as another word in the same language. In this text, i did get confused with some words, but once i read the whole sentence, i really began to understand.

The records department of the ministry of truth minitrue in newspeak was startlingly different from any other object in sight, and also a place were Winston worked and his position was to make sure the big brothers don't look bad. Winston examined the four slips of paper which he had unrolled each contained a message of only one or two lines in the abbreviated jargon that was his position in the records department of the ministry of truth.

it is essential to the party to rid language of synonyms and antonyms because it reduce answers to a single word and everyone had to be obedient respectful and affirmative and it was Winston's responsibility to see to it that everything went well and by reading the writer tells you a little about it, so we get a better understanding of the synonym and antonym.
